Hebrew Vowels
Hebrew Vowels
Hebrew works differently from English. The vowels are separate from the consonants, appearing underneath, to the left of, or above left of the letters. Learning the vowels builds a strong foundation for every Hebrew language learner. Use the examples below to learn the sounds for yourself.
Remember:
- The vowel is always said after the consonant - except in one special case
- The vowels always sound the same - no need to worry about words like peepul or wimin
- There only two combined vowels sounds [diphthongs, for the grammar nerds] in Hebrew
