Mitzvah Day - Thank You!!

Mitzvah Day was a huge success thanks to all our wonderful volunteers!  We brought toiletries and toys to two women's shelters in Hyannis, 10 boxes of diapers to the New Baby Center at 32 Main Street in Hyannis, sandwiches to St. Joseph's House, fleece blankets to MSPCA, and flower pots and hand-made cards to Windsor Nursing Home in South Yarmouth.  We planted lots of beautiful flowers and bushes in the back of the synagogue garden.

We also had 5 chefs preparing food for our own community.  If you are in need of some food,
please let us know.  We have lemon chicken, lentil soup, and vegetarian lasagna, all homemade
and in servings for two.  They are in the freezer at the synagogue if you would like to request them,
please let me know and I can bring them to you.

Monthly Meals for St. Joseph's House

Just down the street from our home is the largest shelter for the homeless in our region.  For many decades we have engaged in the mitzvah of feeding the hungry in our midst by providing a meal for the shelter on the second Sunday of the month.

Please consider volunteering if you never have before. If you aren't a cook or baker, you can provide salad, rolls, or bring desserts already made. You may drop off on Saturday if Sunday doesn't work for you.  Please make sure you mention that you are from Cape Cod Synagogue, and this is for the Sunday dinner.

It is greatly appreciated by St. Joseph's House to receive our wonderful homemade meals.  Thank you to those who sign up each month and for those new people as well. What a great mitzvah!

Thanks for all the wonderful volunteers we have, it's so rewarding to see so many people willing to help out every month for the shelter.

Thank you to our June Volunteers:

Harold and Helaine Fischer, Geula Litchman, Deborah Sloane, Sharon Ladley, Ellen Tratt,
Kathy Solomowitz, Sue Mager, Lew Gordon and Paul Kress, Marcy Levington, Leslie Chizek

July & August are available for sign up. A lot of people are busy in the summer so if you want to get a "jump" on volunteering, please do so.
