Volunteer Signup from December 1st - 19th
Our annual Christmas Dinner for the Needy will be on December 25 at the Synagogue. For many decades we have provided home cooked meals, warm clothing, and a place of warmth and security for those with no other place to go on the holiday. To make this year another success we need many hands to help lighten the load.
Areas of Need
- 6 turkeys, cooked and carved
- Homemade cookies or other pickups, (brownies etc..), are needed
- Cleaned, gently used winter coats and warm shoes or boots, sweatshirts, sweatpants and sweaters for women and men
- New hats, gloves, scarves, socks and fleece-lined leggings
- New thermal wear - Sizes M-L-XL are most needed. Boxes in lobby for collection
- Monetary donations are appreciated
Collection boxes for these items are in the Synagogue lobby
Servers are needed for Christmas Day,
If you have volunteered to serve in past years, please allow others to serve this year and volunteer for a different role, such as:
- Set up
- Clean up
- Give out clothing and snacks
- Open the main door
- Watch over the backpacks
- Mingle with the attendees
Thank you for helping out with this important mitzvah.

Social Action/Justice Efforts
Judaism is a religion of mitzvah, or sacred action, focused on our sacred obligations to care for on another and to seek justice for the downtrodden, the disadvantaged and the persecuted. In a wide variety of ways, our community is engaged in efforts to act in partnership with God in repairing the world through our sacred acts of caring - tikkun olam.
Please look on this page to see the scope of our community involvement and to take part in our efforts. Do you have a project you would like to lead? Please let us know how you can help us do more! Contact our chairperson, Wendy Lavenda-Carroll.
